In order to accelerate the curriculum reform, improve the quality of school running, promote the professional development of teachers, and further create an "efficient ecological classroom of Xingzhi". On the afternoon of December 4th, Hu Wensheng, a famous Jingchu educator, a special teacher in Hubei Province, and the principal of Huangmei County Yucai Experimental School, was invited to Xingzhi School to give a special guidance report on curriculum reform. At the meeting, President Hu Wensheng gave a report entitled "Redefining Classroom Teaching". Focusing on the topic of "Classroom Revolution", he made a comprehensive analysis from the aspects of teaching relationship, teaching objectives, teaching materials, teaching technology, etc., and vividly expounded the meaning, role and practice of redefining classroom teaching and returning education to its essence for all teachers of Xingzhi International School.

In the report, Principal Hu shared the ten-year exploration process and practical value of the "Three-Self" classroom teaching model of Huangmei County Yucai Experimental School. The teaching quality of Yucai School has been rising for ten consecutive years. For six consecutive years, the high school graduation rate of the school has reached more than 90%, and the average of the provincial demonstration high school promotion rate in the past five years is 22.4%.


Yucai Experimental School is a private school located on the edge of the county, with more than 90% of rural left-behind children, a large turnover of teachers, and relatively backward school conditions. Ten years ago, the school was on the verge of closure. And now, there is an endless stream of teams from all over the country who come to inspect and learn from experience. Why? Principal Hu said calmly, "The results of the high school entrance examination are just a by-product of our perseverance in promoting curriculum reform and building efficient classrooms. This is due to the school's unremitting efforts in curriculum reform over the past 10 years - creating a "three-self" classroom teaching model suitable for its own school and learning conditions, namely: self-study (fixed guidance), self-exhibition (display and improvement), and self-evaluation (feedback evaluation). In a 40-minute class, the teacher generally speaks for about 10 minutes, strictly controls the time of the teacher's speech, and tries to give students enough time to think, discuss and communicate independently.

Principal Hu also told us that the "Three-Self" classroom is a "circle classroom", forming a layer by layer learning circle, and all children are in the middle of the circle.

The first layer is self-developed and self-explored. All children have a dialogue with the style, their own past experiences, life, and masters, and form the harvest and confusion of learning. At this time, teachers have the skills to help those children who need help, provide hierarchical guidance, and teach children according to their aptitude.

The second layer is cooperative learning. Students have a dialogue with their peers, with each member of the study group, and with the teacher, forming new gains and confusions. At this time, the teacher can participate in each group to help, support, and appreciate.

On the third level, the whole class shows the improvement. Students present collectively in small groups, share the results of learning, and solve puzzles in learning together. Teachers retreat into the background, silently listening, appreciating, and coping.

This kind of classroom really makes students move, makes the classroom lively, and makes the effect better. The classroom is no longer a teacher's "one-word hall". The teacher becomes a guide, a pointer, and a designer. The students are moving, and the classroom is alive.

President Hu said that the "Three-Self" classroom teaching model is a teaching ideology that constantly innovates itself. Since the launch of the curriculum reform, we have never stopped exploring, verifying, thinking and summarizing to make it more perfect. Later, Principal Hu expanded the "Three-Self" classroom to the "Five-Self" education, that is, learning autonomy, self-discipline, self-care, safety and self-care, and physical and mental self-improvement.


After a long period of work, step by step, and ten years of sharpening a sword, Huangmei Yucai Experimental School has found the "coordinate system" of independent education suitable for the school and clarified the "road map":
